Personality and characterization, as the most fundamental element of narrative, are complex concepts that involve understanding a complete and independent action and are not possible except by analyzing verbal, behavioral, and physical signs. This element is of double importance in war stories, because due to special circumstances, characters often face rare challenges and experiences that affect the formation and profound transformation of their personalities. Due to the unique nature of the Iran-Iraq War, the correct processing of the psychological aspects of characters in stories with the theme of sacred defense will be able to make the world aware of the different ideals of this battle, convey its value messages, depict its human dimensions, and create believable characters so that the audience can identify with them, thus helping to better understand the effects of war on the human psyche. The Enneagram is the latest personality recognition model in modern psychology, with the help of which one can recognize each person’s personality type among the nine models.
The novel “Shekarchiyane Mah” by Mohammad Reza Bayrami, a famous author of the Holy Defense, which has also won the Holy Defense Literature Book of the Year Award, is a worthy example in this field due to its worthy processing of the characters and attention to the psychological nuances of the individuals.
