Considering the significance of details in characterization and the relationship that there is between these details with their "being" and also theme, in this essay it is studied that what is the relation between plot and character about Mr. Zinger's job in Savušun by Simin Daneshvar. This article seeks to show how the type of characterization of a secondary character in the story, Mr. Singer, is effective in conveying the deep structure of the narrative, conveying the theme, and advancing the plot. In other words, why is Mr. Zinger a "tailor" in this novel - apart from a military officer of a foreign army and a sewing machine seller? The premise of this research is that the author has chosen this job in an aesthetic and semantic sense among the multitude of jobs that the character of the story, Mr. Zinger, could have. Therefore, as a part of the narrative components it has its purposeful role and function in this narration. Theoretical frameworks of this research is structuralism and seeks to discover one of the recurring deep structures in this narrative by focusing on the occupation of a secondary character in the story. According to the results, this type of characterization has a symbolic function and it has a direct relation with the theme and plot of this story. It contributes to a deeper and better understanding of the narrative by the professional reader, who has learned to pay attention to the details of the narrative.
