Haft-Peykar” is one of the most prominent literary works with symbolic expressions many linguistic capacities of which have ramined unknown. Since the content of a coalition work indicates the meanings of words and their applications and, furthermore, the lexical manifestation of style is rather more in the work than other layers, the analysis of the lexical layer is more effective in discovering the linguistic capacities and artistic connection of language and meaning. This study is an attempt to determine the role of this linguistic structure in creating and representing the secondary narrative by examining the lexical layer, especially the art of word selection in the Black Dome. In order for the words to be effective and for the reader to understand the text more deeply, the poet narrates a story parallel to the story of the Black Dome at the lower level. The choice of terminology in “Nezami’s” words is in appropriate alignment with their value in the textual and hypertext context. Hence, the words that play a role in representing the deep narrative are symbolic codes that provide multiple understanding potentials in the content, and from a structural point of view, they are loops for constructing the continuity in the deep narrative that is constructed and associated with the events of the story in such a way that their omission destructs the perception of the secondary narrative. Paying attention to the frequency and homogeneity take the words out of monotony. On the other hand, presenting the story codes in a polysemous way, calligraphy, substituting the adjectives with nouns, and bringing a personal pronoun before them, are suitable ways to highlight the codes.
Introduction
The most pivotal role of language is communication. Speech and writing, as manifestations of language, represent the most extensive and impactful forms of interaction among humans. The artistic application of these forms enhances their ability to influence and convey complex concepts. Literary works serve as the artistic embodiment of language, evoking emotions, and shifting perspectives within their audience. The creator of a literary work is an artist who strives to express their thoughts and feelings through refined verbal artistry to the audience. Exceptional literary works possess distinctive characteristics that set them apart, reflecting the creator's talent and mastery of language.
Method
"Haft Peykar," referred to as a notable work of Persian literature, has attained significant recognition due to various interrelated factors. One of its most distinguishing features is the intricate artistic interplay of language and meaning across multiple linguistic layers. This study aims to analyze this literary work by focusing on the relationship between linguistic units and their contributions to meaning and imagery. Implementing an analytical-descriptive research methodology, the researchers have explored the lexical layers through a layered stylistic approach and, followed by that, uncovering the linguistic capabilities and artistic functions of these linguistic units.
Conclusion
The selection and expression of content are pivotal topics within the field of stylistics, and an analysis of these elements in literary works can illuminate various critical discussions, particularly regarding the creativity of authors during the composition process. A literary work functions as an intricate system composed of multiple layers and stages. Therefore, a layered analytical approach is essential for uncovering linguistic possibilities and understanding the relationship between formal features and thematic content.
Words, as fundamental linguistic units, serve as critical components for revealing the beliefs and ideologies of the author. The conscious or unconscious repetition of specific terms often reflects the prevailing ideology within the work and the author's predispositions toward that. Words exist in a complex interrelationship that emerges from cognitive processes, deriving meaning not only from their presence or absence but also from the relational dynamics among words within the discourse chain.
To be more precise, words are sometimes used in a specific sense, and the same meaning can be understood by everyone from their verbal form. These words are called "unmarked" words. Contrary to what was mentioned, some words have another meaning on the periphery of their main meaning, which can have a positive or negative connotation. These types of words are called "marked".
Through the lexical analysis provided by "Haft Peykar", one observes significant linguistic features that align with educational, lyrical, and epic genres. The employment of marked words in "Haft Peykar" provides implicit meanings and contextual information to the reader, underscoring their intentional usage within the narrative. These marked terms often interact with narrative elements, assuming the role of an omniscient narrator capable of revealing hidden truths.
Results
"Haft Peykar" is marked as a significant literary work, distinguished by the poet's adept utilization of linguistic capabilities and innovative strategies within its lexical framework. Among the addressed linguistic capabilities, the concept of bidirectional accumulations plays a critical role, as it narrates subsequent events while simultaneously providing insights into events that have yet to unfold. Additionally, deep-structural accumulations serve as another capacity that intertwines linguistic and literary significations and, as the result, enhancing the reader's cognitive engagement in deciphering the relationships among these significations. Furthermore, formal accumulations represent a deliberate form of wordplay employed by the poet, which intentionally postpones the comprehension of the lexical connections utilized throughout the text.
The characterization of the narrator serves as a critical criterion for word choice in " Haft Peykar." The poet deliberately selects vocabulary that aligns with the narrator's identity; when the narrator assumes the role of a king, the language is imbued with a sense of grandeur through the use of noble and regal terminology. In contrast, when the narrator is depicted as a maid or a lady of the court, the poet employs terms that resonate more strongly within a feminine lexicon, thereby enhancing the text's femininity. This strategic word choice not only reflects the narrator's character but also enriches the overall thematic depth of the work.
The selection of words in literary texts is influenced by various criteria, including the literary genre. An analysis of word frequency in " Haft Peykar " reveals notable variations, particularly in the prevalence of verbs and pronouns, which are closely tied to the literary style employed. In the instructional segments of the text, the frequency of imperative verbs is significantly elevated, reflecting their implicit admonitory and motivational connotations. Additionally, the term "until" appears with high frequency in these educational sections, contributing to the instructional tone of the narrative while embodying an underlying cautionary significance. Conversely, in the epic portions of the text, words serve a dual purpose; they not only convey their literal meanings but also evoke an epic resonance that aligns with the overall literary type. This nuanced interplay between word choice and literary style underscores the complexity of "Haft Peykar" as a significant work of literature.
In "Haft Peykar," the commitments extend beyond mere ornamentation, acquiring a significant semantic dimension. Proportional commitments exemplify a creative form of these commitments, where the poet invokes a single word that resonates with a network of related terms, both structurally and thematically. This interplay serves to enhance and illuminate the overarching meaning. Another category is structural commitment, wherein the poet selects a specific word and integrates it into a coherent and cohesive syntactic framework. Additionally, derivative commitments arise from the poet's ingenuity, aiming to refine precision for the reader. In this context, the criterion for the inclusion of words hinges on letter similarity, which can inadvertently hinder the incorporation of other relevant terms.
The display of content represents a significant artistic function of the linguistic structure of words. In this context, content is conveyed through the linear arrangement of words and their formal signs. Systematic repetition of words is another aspect through which the content of poetry becomes visually manifest. In “Haft Peykar," the words often exhibit an intrinsic connection to the situational context, thereby illuminating the social conditions of the poet's era in an artistic manner. Furthermore, the creation of imagery within the deep structure is one of the most prominent features of "Haft Peykar."
In the selection of words, the poet has deliberately chosen terms that reflect their interrelationships in terms of co-occurrence and rhetorical function, thereby constructing a profound imagery within the text's deep structure. This meticulous crafting of imagery effectively underscores key concepts.
In "Haft Peykar," the highlighted words convey implicit meanings and insights to the reader, suggesting a purposeful application of language. At times, these emphasized words are intricately linked to narrative elements, serving the role of an omniscient narrator who possesses knowledge of hidden truths. This interplay between language and narrative enhances the overall depth and richness of the poetic work.
