Abstract
Description is one of the writing techniques for representing the characteristics of people, place, time and objects, which, along with narration, is considered the center of gravity of the story. With a cursory glance at novels and short stories, we find that the function of description is a determining, fundamental and striking factor, and if it is removed from the story and a story is presented without description, nothing remains but a news report and meaningless sequence of events and incidents. Since this issue, despite its importance, has not been studied in the works of storytellers such as Ali Khodai, the authors of this article, using a library method and using content analysis with a descriptive-analytical approach, have examined the text of the story collection "Warm Me All Winter" by Ali Khodai in terms of the functions of description and have come to the conclusion that the descriptive statements in the content of this story collection have been used artistically and in the service of the story narrative. Ali Khodai has used the functions of description in depicting the place, time, character, state, event, and situation, and has created a comprehensive and accurate understanding and comprehension of the story narrative, and has decorated the text with narrative descriptions in the best possible way.
