Abstract
Historical novels that create a thought-provoking link between literature and history, as well as between reality and fantasy, have a diverse ability to apply the theory of narratology. The present article intends to use the aforementioned theory and provide a systematic definition and classification of this knowledge, to analyze the historical novel "Shams and Togra" by Mirza Mohammad Baqer Khosravi (1287 A.H.) in order to gain a new understanding of to the theory, to get a better understanding of the investigated effect.
In order to achieve the mentioned goals, the author has evaluated the mentioned novel after presenting general information about the subject, with a method composed of morphologists and structuralists, while redefining its theory and typology.
The achievements of this research are related to two theoretical and applied fields. In the theoretical field, presenting an orderly and fresh division of the knowledge of narratology, and in the practical field, it can be attributed to the abundance of direct speech and indirect thoughts, handing over the act of narration to the characters of the story, the anti-archaicism of the narrator, the striking predominance of the narrative time over the narrated time, the use of the "repetition" technique. and "review" due to the appearance of the narrator and clear listening narration with the first person plural pronoun, the development and representation of events with short conversations, the narration of long events from the point of view of the main and secondary characters, the close connection of historical characters and fictional characters,.
