Studying the title, beginning and ending in the short stories of Mahmoud Taymour and Jamalzadeh

Abstract

The title is the first common point between the author and the reader in the story through which they communicate with each other. After the title, the beginning and ending play a significant role in the configuration of the story. The importance of these three categories in short stories is felt more in modern story writing, due to their short and concise nature. The main purpose of this study is to study the title, beginning and ending in the short stories of Mahmoud Taymour, a contemporary Egyptian storyteller, and Mohammad Ali Jamalzadeh, a contemporary Iranian storyteller, because the entry of new story genres from the West into the literary society of Egypt and Iran was almost simultaneous and created a relatively similar story flow in these two countries. . The results of this research, which was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and a comparative approach, show that the similarities in the titles, beginnings, and endings of the short stories of these two authors are that the main and dominant idea of the thoughts of Taymour and Jamalzadeh, similar to the intellectuals of their time, is based on the fact that a bridge must be created between modern European civilization and ancient traditional Asian society. The differences between these two authors also arise from their ideological tendencies and critical or literary approaches, as well as the political and social conditions prevailing in their society.
