Abstract

Malek al-Hand is one of the most famous works of Jabour Douyhi and one of the best novels of 2020, a novel with a psychological theme, which the author, by creating it and by portraying various characters, especially Zakaria, seeks to show the deterioration of the situation in Lebanon and its people. This essay is based on the components of Abraham Maslow's pyramid theory and based on the descriptive-analytical method, the psychological state of the first character of the story, Zakaria, and some of his family members, who are affected by the chaotic situation of the colonized society and World War II. represent for the reader. Lack of identity and cultural self-loss, promiscuity and illicit relationships, personality conflict and lack of commitment and lack of stability and psychological security and attention to economic issues and basic needs of life are reflected in the entire story. Most of the characters in the novel, such as Philomena, Yunus, and her children, remain in the same elementary levels of Maslow's pyramid and do not reach self-actualization, but Mazekaria has finally distanced herself from her psychological crises to some extent due to internal conflicts, and some elements of self-actualization such as understanding reality and establishing Communication with it, fulfillment of ideals, solitude and solitude, autonomy and cultural independence, simple spontaneity and naturalness are visible in him.
