Abstract
The short story collection Motaghayer -e- Mansur by Yaghoub Yadali was awarded the Best Short Story Collection at the third Ahmad Mahmoud Literary Award in 2019. This collection includes six stories titled "Me, Danny, and Fidel," "Samireha", "Motaghayer -e- Mansur", "The Deceased", "Unexplained description of Arayeshnameh", "Snow". Each story contains elements that create a cohesive network and connection, building the narrative; these elements include the narrator, point of view, character and characterization, setting and time, plot and theme. The theme is one of the important elements of the story. The techniques and other elements of the story reflect the theme; so much so that the theme enables the unity of separate story elements. The common theme of the stories in Motaghayer-e- Mansur is the expression of relativity. In this article, using a descriptive-analytical method, we have examined and analyzed the theme of relativity and its compatibility with narrative techniques in the short story collection Motaghayer-e- Mansur. The theme of the stories is relativity, titles and narrative style of the stories also align with relativity and uncertainty. The type of doubt and how it manifests in the characters is shown as inner turmoil, behavioral changes and identity multiplicity. By intelligently combining narrative techniques to create a multi-layered literary experience and challenging concepts, space and reality, the author has succeeded in representing uncertainty based on the principles of relativity and chaos theory.
